The Brazil Solidarity Initiative have been invited to participate in a session at this year’s Arise: A Festival of Labour’s Left Ideas on June 22. We’re delighted to let you know that our special session will be joined by Tereza Campello, former Minister for Social Development and the Fight Against Hunger.
Arise is a people powered festival of politics, internationalism and solidarity and is taking place on June 21st and 22nd. You can find out more, see the line-up including John McDonnell and Diane Abbott, and book tickets here and also see the Facebook event here.
For your information, Tereza played a pivotal role in poverty reduction in Brazil under President Dilma Rousseff (see picture above), implementing the Brazil without Extreme Poverty Plan, which directly contributed to raising 22 million people out of extreme poverty. She also coordinated the Food and Nutrition Security National Policy, which saw Brazil removed from the UN World Hunger Map in 2014.
It’s a great pleasure to have her join us for this exciting political festival – book your tickets today at www.arise-festival.com/tickets
Kind regards,
Patrick Foley,
